DOE Safety Software Communications Forum (SSCF)

The SSCF is an integral part of the DOE Safety Software Central Registry and provides engineers, safety analysts and other professionals a platform for obtaining and communicating information regarding various safety-software applications, including safety analysis and design software, in use at various sites within the DOE complex. It also serves to facilitate interaction and foster communication among safety software users and code developers within the DOE community. Additionally, the SSCF establishes a centralized source of information on safety software usage statistics for both safety analysis and safety design codes used in the Department.

The SSCF is an access restricted (password protected) system that, apart from consolidating usage information, provides access to experienced code users, procedures, training information, good practices and lessons learned, as well as a discussion forum to directly address any specific user issues.

From this website, registered users are able to:

  • View an updated catalog of safety software used at their site and view software usage at other sites
  • Access links to the code developers’ websites
  • Participate in the Discussion Forum
  • Access safety quality assurance related information for Central Registry Toolbox codes
Successful implementation and use of the SSCF relies upon active participation and support by the organizations that actually use safety software in the Department. An initial tabulation of the safety analysis and design code usage information is included in the SSCF, gathered from an earlier data call. It is envisaged that the displayed information will be kept up to date with the support of the respective organization/site/facility.
